Item Preferences and Backups

Members can select item preferences for certain orders, which include selecting a backup item or selecting to not substitute an item if it is out of stock when their order is being shopped.

  • Items with backups are member-chosen substitutes selected for specific items in case the originally requested items are out of stock.
  • Do not substitute items are items that the member does not wish to substitute, regardless of their general substitution preference. If these items are out of stock, you may mark them as not found and move on to the next item.

When an out-of-stock item does not have an item preference, you will follow the standard process of marking it as not found and following the member's general substitution preference.

What if the backup item is also out of stock?

If a backup item is also out of stock, you may mark it as not found and the app will prompt you to follow the member's general substitution preference.

How do item preferences work?

  • Members will still have a general substitution preference for all items on their order that do not have an item preference selected.
  • If a member has selected item preferences, Item Preferences will display beneath their general preference on the Order Details screen.
  • To review all of the item preferences the member selected for their order, tap Item Preference.
  • While shopping, an item preference will automatically display after marking an item as not found.
  • If no backup is selected or the backup item is out of stock, you will be prompted to follow the member’s general substitution preference for that specific item.
