Shopping for Meat and Seafood

Top shoppers have shared with us that one component of ensuring member satisfaction is delivering meat products that have been kept at a safe temperature to avoid spoilage and have not contaminated other groceries.

Tips for selecting and delivering quality meat items:

  • Review the weight listed on the package to ensure you are choosing an item that weighs as close to what the member requested as possible.

  • Check to see if the member left a note on the item. For example, the member may request for the item to be boneless, skinless, or have a specific fat content.

  • Select items with the furthest expiration date.

  • Inspect the container's packaging for tears or holes, which could cause spoilage or leakage.

  • Be sure raw meat and seafood is bagged separately from other groceries to avoid cross-contamination.

  • Use and tightly close the store-provided plastic bags to keep raw meat, poultry, and seafood separate from other items.

  • Place meat and seafood in insulated bags after checking out to ensure they are kept at the appropriate temperature while delivering to avoid spoilage.
