How do I handle delivery with personally owned reusable bags?

Shoppers are encouraged to use reusable bags and cooler bags to help transport items from the store to the delivery location, and offering to bring an order inside the customer's delivery location is one way many shoppers choose to help and provide great customer service. However, shoppers are not required to enter a customer's home and should only do so if they feel comfortable.
Note: Some states ban the use of plastic bags, where shoppers will be required to use reusable or paper bags while shopping and delivering.

Here are steps you can take when using personally owned reusable bags at the time of delivery:

  • If you enter a customer's home, you may ask where they would like their order placed and unload the items from your reusable bags at that time. 
  • If you do not enter the customer's home, you may unload the items from your reusable bags and hand them off to the customer at their door.
    *Note: To provide a positive experience, please be considerate of the weight of items you are handing off to the customer and try not to hand off too many bags at one time.

If you forget your bags at a customer's house and your secure connection communication window with the customer has ended, please reach out to Shipt Support before returning to the delivery location to retrieve your bags.
