Members can put in a special request to have a party tray or bakery item such as a cake picked up along with their Shipt order as long as the item hasn’t been paid for in advance.
For example, if a member called a store’s deli department and ordered a party tray but didn’t pay for it yet, they can enter the item as a special request on their order. However, if the member did pay for the tray when they ordered it, it should not be placed on their Shipt order for pickup.
Tips for deli/bakery special request items:
- Confirm with the member that they called ahead to the store and placed an order for the requested item. If they did, get the name the order will be under.
- Consider going to the deli or bakery when you first get to the store to be sure the order is ready for pickup.
- If the order isn't ready yet but will be soon, you can swing back by the deli or bakery after you've shopped for all other items to pick it up.
- If the order won't be ready within the delivery window, contact Shipt Support for next steps.
- When picking up the item, double-check with the store associate that any extras needed (condiments, candles, etc.) have been included.
What if the item has been paid for already?
If the member lets you know the item was paid for ahead of time, it is recommended that you politely let them know you are unable to pick that item up for them and they may contact support if they have any questions. If you choose to still deliver the item for the member, you should mark the special request item as not found in the app since the item was paid for previously.
