NYC Transportation and Parking

In NYC, shoppers have a variety of different transportation options available. Some of these can eliminate the need to find and pay for parking, allowing shoppers to focus more on providing a premier member experience.

Below are some transportation options, along with tips for using public transportation and parking in the city.

MTA Subway Pass

  • Multiple memberships and per ride options
  • Stations all over the city

Lyft

  • Membership and per ride options
  • Free up to $15 ride with membership
  • Flexible pick up and drop off locations

Congestion fee

Starting Sunday, 1/5/25, New York City will charge a daily $9 toll to any vehicle that enters the Congestion Relief Zone in Manhattan, which includes all streets and avenues at or below 60th St.* The city will collect the toll from you via E-ZPass. For shoppers, this toll will be in effect for the Midtown Manhattan and Downtown Manhattan zones. If you don’t have E-ZPass, your vehicle will be identified via license plate photos, and you will be mailed a bill, if necessary. To purchase an E-ZPass, click here. *Note: Shipt does not offer reimbursement for expenses incurred while shopping or delivering including, but not limited to, gas, parking fees, parking tickets, or tolls. Consult with a tax professional to see if those expenses can be written off on your taxes.

Public Transportation Tips

  • Give yourself extra time for challenges that may arise due to stairs, small spaces, and transportation delays.
  • If you have a cart or wagon, you can use the emergency exits on the subway.
  • Buses will usually require carts to be folded before entering.
  • Be aware of routes, exits, and peak times. Avoiding public transportation during rush hour can be a good idea when delivering larger orders.
