Completing Orders Without a Physical Card

As soon as shoppers complete the sign-up process to start shopping with Shipt, they will begin to receive offers for both Prepaid and Delivery Only orders as these order types do not require shoppers to provide a form of payment in the store. Once shoppers activate their virtual Shipt card in their Apple Wallet or Google Pay app, they will begin to receive offers for Shop & Deliver orders at retailers that accept virtual pay.

All shoppers will also receive a physical card in the mail. Once shoppers receive and activate their physical card, they’ll begin to receive offers for Shop & Deliver orders at all retail locations. To learn more about physical cards, click here.



Activating a virtual card


All shoppers will have access to a virtual card that can be used at any retail location that accepts virtual pay.

To activate your virtual card:

  • Navigate to your account page and tap Shipt Card.
  • Tap Add virtual card
    • If your virtual card is already activated, this option will not be available and you will instead see the last 4 digits of your active virtual card.
  • Follow the in-app prompts to add your virtual card to your Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
     

Keep in mind that mobile devices have specific requirements needed in order to utilize virtual cards:

iPhone:

  • Latest OS version.
  • Models with Face ID.
  • Models with Touch ID, excluding iPhone 5s.
  • Learn more.

Android:

  • OS version of Android 5.0 (Lolipop) or higher.
  • Models with NFC support. To turn on NFC support navigate to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > NFC*
    *Note: This may vary by device and manufacturer.

Checking out with a virtual card


Before paying, the device with the virtual card must be password protected. If it's not, the virtual card will not work at checkout. Look for the contactless symbol () on the card reader to verify if a retailer accepts virtual pay. After all of your items have been scanned at the register, you will be able to start the virtual pay process. 

  • Open the wallet app on your iPhone or Android device.
  • Tap your Shipt virtual card in the wallet app.
  • Hold your phone near the contactless reader for a few seconds. 
  • When the transaction is successful, a blue checkmark will appear on the screen.
