Providing excellent customer service is key to making your business a successful one! One situation where you can show off your awesome customer service skills is at the time of delivery.
Delivering Tips
- Pay attention to and follow delivery instructions left in the order notes or that the customer requests during the shopping and delivery process. If there are no delivery instructions, simply knock on the door and wait politely until the member arrives.
- If there are no delivery instructions for door drop-off orders, use your best judgement to ensure the order remains undamaged until the customer can retrieve it. This can include:
- Making sure the items are not blocking the door.
- Double checking the delivery address to ensure the order is being left at the correct location.
- Message the customer once you’ve dropped the order off so they can retrieve it as soon as possible. You may choose to note any weather conditions that could damage the items based on their location at delivery, such as direct sunlight or rain.
- If there are no delivery instructions for door drop-off orders, use your best judgement to ensure the order remains undamaged until the customer can retrieve it. This can include:
- Carry temperature-sensitive foods to the member's door in insulated bags—This allows the member to see that you've tried to keep food items at their safe, optimal temperature
- Greet the member and offer to help carry their items inside if the order was not a door drop-off.
- Be sure to mark an order as delivered before leaving the order's delivery location to ensure you get credit for your on-time delivery.
Parking
Locating a place to park can sometimes be a challenge. Here are a few tips from other shoppers on finding a parking spot when delivering:
- Review your order notes first to see if the member included parking information.
- Follow laws and regulations. Steer clear of accessible parking, fire lanes, private parking, and tow-away zones.
- If relevant, check-in with valet or building security.
- If you can't find a parking spot, reach out to the member and let them know so they can provide a suggestion for you.
