Understanding Metros and Zones

What are metros?

Metros are large coverage areas that are broken up into smaller zones and will often be the name of a city. If you’re ever on a trip or move, you can shop in any metro where Shipt is active!

To change your metro:

  • First, make sure you are not on the schedule unless you intend to shop multiple metros.
  • Tap the menu icon in the top left corner of the Shopper app and tap on Your Name.
  • Scroll down until you see Metro. Tap on Metro to view a list of all of our metros, and choose your new metro

What are zones?

Zones are smaller coverage areas within a metro and contain a select set of stores and delivery addresses.

Although the selection of zones is up to you, it is recommended to select no more than 2 zones to help prevent over-scheduling.

Changing Your Default Zones

At any point, you can tap Zones in the top right corner of the Schedule screen to change your default zones.

  • Tap the menu icon in the top left corner of the Shopper app
  • Tap Schedule. If you have not already set any default zones set, tap Select Zones to choose your zone or multiple zones
  • To select a zone, tap the circle to the left of the zone name. The circles you tap will change to display as a green circle with a white checkmark and all selected zones will move to display under the Current Default section at the top of the Default Zones screen
  • Tap the circle again to remove the selected zone

You can also update your zones for specific delivery windows without impacting your overall default zones. This feature is beneficial if you'll be near another zone in your area, but don't want to schedule yourself there for all available windows.

  • Tap the ellipsis icon () displayed to the right of the delivery window.
  • Select or deselect previously set default zones displayed or tap Edit to view the full list of zones.
  • Once finished, you can minimize the modal.
