Where does Shipt deliver alcohol?

Alcohol delivery through Shipt is available in select metros for select retailers. Be sure to check which retailers offer alcohol delivery in your area by using the Where Do You Shipt Shop? button in the top right corner of the Shopper Hub to search for your metro! 

If a metro or retailer is not listed below, alcohol should not be delivered. Alcohol also cannot be delivered if the ID Scan label is not present on the order. If you see a special request for an alcohol item, or the customer requests alcohol via text or call and the ID Scan label () is not present on the order, kindly let them know you are not able to deliver that item.

Alcohol delivery for Prepaid orders from Target or Meijer is only available in select metros.*
*Note: Alcohol is available for delivery on Meijer Prepaid orders in Michigan and Ohio only, and on Target Prepaid orders in CA, FL, HI, IL, KY, MI, MO, NC, TN, and TX metros. Do note that alcohol cannot be added as a special request if the order has not been flagged as an ID Scan order.



Delivering Alcohol in Different States

It is important to note that each metro may have specific legal requirements for alcohol delivery based on state regulations (see below). For example, some states legally require printed permits to be in shopper vehicles when delivering orders with alcohol. 

If you are currently alcohol certified and will be shopping in a new state due to travel or a move, please complete the state-specific course to ensure alcohol delivery compliance.



Alabama

Metro(s): All

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID to be certified for alcohol delivery in Alabama.
  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, daycare centers, places of worship, and ABC licensed premises. 
  • Shoppers must shop at the store location listed on the order. 
  • There are legal limitations on the amount of alcohol that can be delivered in a 24-hour period in Alabama. The total amount of beer delivered in any single 24-hour period per customer may not exceed 120 12-ounce containers (the equivalent of 5 cases). The total amount of wine delivered in any single 24-hour period per customer may not exceed 9,000 milliliters (the equivalent of 12 750-milliliter bottles). Shoppers are not able to honor a request for alcohol that exceeds these limitations.

Arizona

Metro(s): Phoenix, Tucson

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID to be certified for alcohol delivery in Arizona. 
  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers. 
  • Shoppers must shop at the store location listed on the order. 
  • Per state law, alcohol must have a label as provided by the retailer.

California

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID to be certified for alcohol delivery in California.

Florida

Georgia

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old to be certified for alcohol delivery in Georgia. 

  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers. 
  • Shoppers must shop at the store location listed on the order. 
  • Per state law, shoppers must have a GA-issued driver’s license to deliver alcohol in GA.

Hawaii

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID to be certified for alcohol delivery in Hawaii. 

  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers.

Illinois

Kentucky


Metro(s): Bowling Green, Lexington, Louisville, Owensboro

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID to be certified for alcohol delivery in Kentucky. 

  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers. 
  • Shoppers must shop at the store location listed on the order. 
  • Per state law, individuals delivering alcohol must have the appropriate signage displayed on their car. 

  • After completing the course, a Shipt car decal will be mailed out to you. Once you have your decal, take a picture of it on your car and send it to alcoholdelivery@shipt.com to complete the certification process. After this process is complete, you will be compliant with state guidelines to deliver alcohol.

Massachusetts  


Metro(s): Boston, Mashpee

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID to be certified for alcohol delivery in Massachusetts. 
  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers. 
  • Shoppers must shop at the store location listed on the order. 
  • Per state law, individuals delivering alcohol must print out or save a digital copy of the certificate provided at the end of Shipt's Alcohol Delivery Certification to keep in their car.* Alcohol must have a label as provided by the retailer.

    *Note: All permits issued before 2023 have expired and are not currently available for renewal.

Michigan

Minnesota


Metro(s): Minneapolis, Rochester, St. Cloud

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID to be certified for alcohol delivery in Minnesota. 

  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers. 
  • Shoppers must shop at the store location listed on the order. 
  • When checking out with alcohol in Minnesota, alcohol items must be purchased in a separate transaction if there are other non-alcoholic items on the order.
  • Minnesota law requires shoppers to obtain customer signatures and shopper signatures when delivering alcohol. All information about the order will be located in the app and signatures will be required in-app to complete delivery.

Missouri


Metro(s): Columbia, Jefferson City, Kansas City, Osage Beach, Springfield, St. Joseph, St. Louis

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid ID to be certified for alcohol delivery in Missouri. 

  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers. 
  • Shoppers must shop at the store location listed on the order. 
  • Alcohol cannot be delivered to Illinois zip codes that fall in the St. Louis metro.

Nebraska

North Carolina
*Note: Alcohol delivery through Shipt is temporarily unavailable in North Carolina. If you complete the certification course, or you are already alcohol certified, you will see offers for orders containing alcohol when alcohol delivery resumes. 

Metro(s): Asheville, Burlington, Charlotte, Fayetteville, Triad, Triangle, Wilmington

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid license to be certified for alcohol delivery in North Carolina. 

  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers. 
  • Shoppers must shop at the store location listed on the order. 
  • Per state law, individuals delivering alcohol must print out or save a digital copy of the certificate provided at the end of Shipt's Alcohol Delivery Certification to keep in their car.
  • At Lidl, alcohol must be stickered when being purchased for delivery. The cashier will provide stickers to shoppers. Prior to delivery, these must be placed on any bags or cases containing alcohol.

Ohio

  • Shoppers must be at least 21 years old and have a valid license to be certified for alcohol delivery in Ohio. 

  • Alcohol delivery is prohibited to college campuses (including dormitories and other on-campus housing), military bases, correctional facilities, high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and daycare centers.

  • Per state law, individuals delivering alcohol must print out or save a digital copy of the alcohol permit provided in Shipt's Alcohol Delivery Certification to keep in their car.
