Tax Exemption Process

The app will prompt you to ask for tax exemption when you begin the checkout process. There may be a barcode for the cashier to scan, a number to provide, or you may be asked to sign a tax exemption form.

To verify the transaction is tax-exempt, you can look at the tax line on the itemization screen at checkout. If it says "Tax: $0.00", the tax exemption was successfully processed and you can swipe your Shipt card.


What if the store will not allow shoppers to use tax-exemption status?

If this occurs, pay for the order (including tax) using the Shipt card. Then open a chat with HQ (leading with the order number) and let Support know about the issue.
