Target Dedicated Checkout Areas

In order to streamline the checkout process, we’re testing dedicated checkout areas for shoppers with Shipt at select Target stores in some metros beginning 11/3/24.

When you finish shopping, look for the Shipt sign located either at the entrance to a checkout lane or at the self-checkout area. You may be asked to show your Shipt card or app to confirm you are a shopper.

Keep in mind that this option is only available in select stores at this time.


The Checkout Process

The checkout process may vary depending on where the dedicated area is located.

At belted checkout lanes:

  • If a Target team member is not available at the dedicated lane, press the call button for assistance.
  • Place all items on the checkout belt and separate them by order.
  • For Shop and Deliver orders, a Target team member will scan the items and you’ll pay with your Shipt card. 
  • For Prepaid orders, a Target team member will review the items on the belt and help you complete the audit and process the order. 
  • Once checkout is complete, the Target team member will help you bag the items and you can proceed with delivery.

At self-checkout:

  • If a Target team member is not available at the dedicated area, alert the closest Target team member.
  • For Shop and Deliver orders, scan the items and pay with your card. 
  • For Prepaid orders, leave the items in your cart. A Target team member will review the items and help you complete the audit and process the order. 
  • Once check out is complete, bag the items and proceed with delivery.
