Shopper Referrals

Know someone who would be a great addition to the shopper community? Refer them directly in the shopper app, and you’ll both be eligible for a bonus! After the referred shopper has been accepted, they will need to complete a certain number of orders on time within a designated number of days of being approved.* The number of orders and days will display on the Refer shoppers page of your app and in the message you send to them. 
*Note: Target Delivery Only routes do not count toward referral bonuses. 

To send a referral, open the main menu in your app and tap Refer Shoppers. At least one order must be completed to be eligible to send a referral. If you’ve already completed at least one order, you can see what referral bonus is currently running in your area.* 
*Note: Shipt onboards shoppers on an as needed basis and the updates to our referral process will not impact this. While shoppers are welcome to refer friends to apply to shop in metros with waitlists, the referral will be pending until the referee has been approved to shop. Referral bonus amounts will vary by metro and shopper and are subject to change. 

When you’re ready to refer a shopper, tap Share next to your personal referral code. You’ll be prompted to send them a pre-formatted message to apply. The referred shopper must complete their shopper application via the link you share since this is a dynamic link connected to your shopper account. 

   

   

You can track the status of your referral on the Refer Shopper screen at any time after they’ve submitted their application. If their application is accepted and they successfully complete their orders on time within the designated number of days of being approved, your referral will show as a Successful Referral and appear in your Payment History.* 
*Note: Referral bonuses are not eligible for instant pay.

FAQs

What about metros that aren’t currently hiring or have a waitlist?

  • Shipt onboards shoppers on an as needed basis and the updates to our referral process will not impact this. While shoppers are welcome to refer friends to apply to shop in metros with waitlists, the referral will be pending until the referee has been approved to shop. We evaluate the performance of every area in which we deliver on a weekly basis, and if we see an opportunity for more shoppers, we’ll reach out to continue the onboarding process.


How much is the referral bonus?

  • Referral bonus amounts vary by metro and are subject to change. The amount for your metro will be visible on the Refer Shoppers page in the app.


When will I receive my referral bonus?

  • If the person that you refer completes their orders on time within the designated number of days of being approved, you will both receive a referral bonus. You can keep track of pending and successful referrals as well as view your payment history in the app. 


Can I refer members to Shipt?

  • You are more than welcome to spread the word about Shipt in your area, but unfortunately, shoppers will no longer see a “Share Shipt” option in the app to refer new members and receive a reward.
