Claimed an order at one of the retailers listed as tax-exempt? Check our Retailer Guide for specific details about the tax exemption process for each store.

Tax Exemption Process

The app will inform you if you need to ask for tax exemption when you begin the checkout process. There may be a barcode for the cashier to scan, a number to provide, or you may need to sign a tax exemption form.

To verify the transaction is tax-exempt, you can look at the tax line on the itemization screen at checkout. If it says “Tax: $0.00”,  the tax exemption was successfully processed and you can swipe your Shipt card.

What if the store will not allow shoppers to use tax-exemption status?

If this occurs, pay for the order (including tax) using the Shipt card. Then open a chat with HQ (leading with the order number) and let Support know about the issue.
