Shopping and Delivering Bulk/Wholesale Orders

Shopping and delivering bulk/wholesale orders from stores is different from other orders — these orders do not always supply bagging, are often heavy, and can take up a significant amount of space in your vehicle.

Best practices for bulk/wholesale orders:

  • Review orders to ensure your vehicle is large enough to accommodate all items
  • Inspect each item to ensure it's not damaged
  • Some stores specialize in bulk purchasing and do not provide bags for customers. Shoppers may bring their own bags to assist them while organizing and transporting items — large bags are recommended
    • Save insulated cooler bags for cold and frozen items to ensure you have enough room to fit as many temperature-sensitive items as possible
    • Bring any reusable bags you may have for smaller items
    • Use a cart, wagon, or other carrying devices for large items
  • Maintain proper form when lifting bulk items
  • Allow extra time to load and unload
  • Prevent damage to items by carefully packing them into your vehicle
  • When delivering, make several trips if necessary, rather than trying to unload everything at once

Best practice from a fellow shopper:

  • “If the delivery is to a business, apartment building, or condo, I text the member letting them know I'm on my way before I leave the store. In that text, I also ask if there is a cart or an elevator available for me to use.”
